Amanda, stylist / colorist at Christiaan Salon and Day Spa, Providence, RI

Amanda, Stylist / Colorist

While growing up around her parent’s restaurant, she always knew she wanted a career working with people.  Hair, make up and fashion were always her passions.
Amanda started working as an assistant at Christiaan while still attending Arthur Angelo School of Cosmetology, then becoming a stylist and working behind the chair.
Helping clients understand what their hair can actually do and working with different techniques, means each person can feel comfortable and confident. She is also certified to perform the Bio Ionic Permanent Straightening system, and So Cap Hair Extensions, which keep her quite busy!
Amanda is always learning something new and staying up to date on classes to really keep things fresh.
She spends her time away from the salon running around with her 2 year old son Luke, and spending time with family and friends.

  • Amanda cut my hair throughout college, and she is fabulous! She is attentive, takes the appropriate amount of time with everything (shampoo, cut, & style), her work is meticulous, and she will give you a cut that looks good every step of the way between haircuts–I used to ask her for a pixie, and it always grew out so well, that I would sometimes wait three months to go back and get it cut again because it looked really cute even at in-between lengths. Definitely book with her!
  • Had Amanda color and cut my hair. First time at the salon and great experience all around
  • Christiaan is a top-notch salon, and Amanda is a real pro. After a different salon botched my hair color, Amanda reassured me during my initial consultation that it could be fixed. Amanda not only corrected my color (looks amazing), but also gave me a flattering haircut that is easy to manage. I strongly recommend Christiaan Salon for its super talented staff from the stylists and estheticians (Desiree is awesome!) to the front desk.
  • I was a former client a couple of years ago but moved on when work obligations took me out of the area and my then stylist left to be a full-time mom (Laura cut my hair and she was AMAZING with natural curls—a sorceress with shears!). But I digress. Rewind to last month:
I suffered a MAJOR hair catastrophe at the hands of a colorist at another salon: too much bleach left on for too long, super hot roots, severe bleeding, uneven color…you name it. Suffice to say I wanted Karen Elson and got the bastard offspring of Strawberry Shortcake & Beaker from the Muppets.*
2 days later: I called Christiaan’s in tears, explained the situation to Ebony, the receptionist, and requested their best corrective colorist STAT. She gave me a patient listening ear and recommended Amanda. Amanda PERSONALLY contacted me later THE SAME DAY to discuss what happened and we scheduled an appointment ASAP.
  • Amanda cut 19 inches off this handsome young man for “Locks of Love” today.
Sherry wrote: “That is “Locks of Love” and lots of love….amazing. He is very handsome. Great job!”
  • Amanda did the same for me back in November .. cut 11″ off to donate! Great job with this young man too, Amanda — you rock! And he looks GREAT!
When I arrived at the salon, Amanda immediately greeted me and showed me upstairs to discuss the correction. I again explained what happened and she listened, examined my hair, asked what I wanted for a final result and EXPLAINED the process for correction. Throughout the process, Amanda was the consummate professional: knowledgeable, skilled, confident, & client-oriented, answering my every question. After 3+ hours (and no sign of tiring!), I left not only looking GREAT, but most importantly feeling 1000% percent better knowing I was in the hands of such a talented stylist.**
And while I wish the circumstances for my return to Christiaan’s had been different, I believe everything happens for a reason. My hair catastrophe inevitably led me back to Christiaan’s and to Amanda (who gave me this fierce Dark Mod look a la Vidal Sassoon, btw), so in retrospect it was all worth it because this salon simply has THE BEST stylists around.
  • I’ve been going to Amanda for a couple of years now (since moving to PVD) and have always had a good experience – great cut and color (I have thick hair that requires regular color to hide greys), reasonable prices, nice environment, coffee/tea available, and the salon is not pushy about product (which I find annoying). For what it’s worth, my mother-in-law is a stylist and the only time she’s ever complimented my hair has been post-Amanda cuts!
